FINALS ARE OVER!!!

I came home on Wednesday at about 4:30 and I was literally dancing around my apartment! Finals are over! It's time to rejoice and celebrate. Sing songs of happiness! wahoo! But it's bittersweet. I'm so happy the semester is over, but I'm sad because it means all my friends have left for Christmas. And if they haven't left yet, they'll all be gone by Sunday. :( Some of the guys that are leaving on missions I may never see again. I hate goodbyes. I hate having people be a part of my life for what only seems like a split second, never to see them again. It's so sad to me. I guess there's Facebook and stuff to keep in touch, until they leave on their missions anyway. So, I guess I'm happy finals are over, but I'm really sad to be saying goodbye to all my friends. Even the ones that are just leaving for a couple weeks. :(

Random Blog Post

Look at what an awful blogger I am! Life is CRAZY!!! I miss blogging though. So here's an attempt at one. I can't wait until finals are over!!! I'm stressed and I need a break.

Let's see... what to blog about. How about boys?? haha, or not...

Let me just say what amazing friends I have! Both my new friends and my old friends. Together they make the best friends a girl could have! They are always there for me no matter what. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends!

Anyway, I just thought I'd write a little blog. I'm off to take a bubble bath! :)

Canyon View v. Wasatch!!!

Quinton had a football game tonight and it was SO intense!! It was in Heber. They were undefeated up to this point and the other team scored first. Neck and neck the whole game. Q had some good tackles. Fourth quarter comes, it's tied up, 20-20. Overtime. Coin toss, we win, on offense. It took a few plays but we finally scored!! The QB threw the ball to another player waiting in the end zone. A few seconds AFTER we scored another player intentionally tackled the QB, snapping both bones just above his wrist. QB's out. He leaves to go to the ER with his mom. These guys ARE a team. As soon as he was out, EVERY player started chanting "CORY! CORY! CORY! CORY!" The other team had the ball now and it was their chance to score. They kept chanting his name until it was all over. They intercepted the ball and it was all over. These guys won the game for Cory. They are bringing him the game ball tomorrow. Still undefeated Falcons!! 7-0!! This was the last game in the regular season! Onto the playoffs! GO FALCONS!!!

I'll try to put up some pictures sometime, but I think I left my camera in my jacket, which I left in the car of the people I rode to the game with.

Alfred

So my last post was about Alfred. He used to be an outside pet, but now he's an inside one. It took my a while to convince my roommates that this was a good thing. I had to bring him inside because if I left him outside he would have died! I couldn't let that happen. So now he is residing in a lovely habitat on my desk. :) Now I just have to figure out how to get him to eat... But let me tell you, as of right now he is a great pet. I think Alfred might be a girl though... cause I think males are smaller... oh well. Kevin in 'Up' is a girl, so I think Alfred is a perfectly feminine name..... Kinda. I want to keep him alive!! At least he's warm now. I thought it would be too hard to make him a winter coat, so I adopted him. He now carries my last name as well. Alfred Dickerson.

He blends in pretty well with all the green stuff in the cookie box. :)
You can see his/her green body below the yellow '$1.80' sticker.

Alfred the Praying Mantis

I was visiting teaching today and My companion and I were headed back and we found this praying mantis. He is now our pet. The note says, "If you see a praying mantis outside, please don't kill him. He is our pet and his name is Alfred." Alfred is also in the picture. :)
Thought I'd throw in a random picture of all my pictures on our living room wall.

OHS Homecoming Football Game!!

I went home for the OHS Homecoming and it was so fun because I got to put my hand on the Alumni wall!!

Chrisanne, Jess and I at the game!!
Go TIGERS!!!
Bri, dad, mine and Chrisanne's hand and signature. Bri got a REAL handprint cause she's the last graduating class of OHS. But I drew mine. :)

They won the game!!!

FHE: Shopping Cart Races!!

I have to tell you about FHE last night! It was so so fun!! We had shopping cart races! We went to Walmart to do it. Shopping cart racing may not be what you think it is. No, it's not racing up and down aisles pushing someone in the cart. Actually, you have a certain amount of time to go get a certain number of items from throughout the store. The purpose is to make it hard to find where you got them from. Then when time's up you switch carts and the first person to put all the items away wins! I was with Jared and I think we came in last... of almost last. But the group that had our cart came in second to last, so it's all good. :) It was so much fun!! (The picture is of Jared with our cart.)

Chemistry Study!!

Yikes, I'm taking my first HUGE Chemistry test tomorrow!!! Yes, I'm terrified! We had our study group tonight, but instead of it just being Matt and I, there were three other people too. I think we should only let one of them officially join our group.... maybe that's mean. But the other girl there didn't really get any work done and was distracting. Anywho, I feel like I was productive and even learned something I didn't understand before. Wish me look on my exam tomorrow!! If I'm eating ice cream in my room and being mopey, you'll know why. :)
p.s. I wish I could proudly wear this shirt like the random guy in the pic... not yet though.

BYU vs. CSU

GO COUGARS!!!!!! Way to pull off that win against CSU!!! That was awesome! I even got to see like the last 6 minutes! :) The cool thing about my job is that I get to go DOWN ON THE FIELD towards the end of the game. I was like 2 feet away from the players. :) And let me just say, WOW they look good in their uniforms. A few in particular. 42-23 Go Cougs!!

Reunion

I have to tell you about the COOLEST thing that happened to me today!! I was walking down the stairs in the Tanner Building (which is a long walk, it's just one LONG staircase) and there were some guys at the bottom of the stairs handing out some flyer for a business club conference thing and I didn't really pay attention to them cause I'm not a business major. (Don't ask me WHY my health professions class is in the business building...but that's not the only random place I have a class. I have English in the Eyring Science Center and Book of Mormon in the library.) Anyway, the point is there were guys standing at the bottom of the stairs. I was a few minutes early to my class so I just sat down on a bench, thankful for a little break. I kept hearing these guys say something along the lines of "Come to the BYU Marketing Club conference tomorrow, there's gonna be food," (I don't know if that's the real name of the club, but you get the idea.) I turned around to look and I saw someone I was not expecting to see in a million years!! At first I didn't know he was. But I DID know that he looked SO familiar! For a minute it was driving me crazy cause I couldn't figure out how I knew him!! Then it hit me, RICARDO'S!! It HAD to be Lance from Ricardo's! (That was literally the best job I've ever had! And not just because there were a couple really handsome guys that I worked with. Oh, by the way, Ricardo's is a Mexican restaurant.) (I honestly think I have a really good memory for remembering people I've met, even only for a minute. Random tangent. Not even five minutes before this I ran into a guy by the drinking fountain who I met at the top of the Y a few weeks back. I only talked to him for like a minute up there, but I still remembered him.) So I sat there for a minute more, thinking to myself, 'It HAS to be him. Should I go talk to him? But what if it's really not him and this guy just has one of those faces that everyone thinks is familiar?' But I figured, 'What the heck, if it's not him, sure he'll think I'm a dork, but it's not like I ever have to see him again. I can walk into class and when I get back out he'll be gone and it'll be as if it never happened.' So I got up....my feet just kinda lead me there; My mind couldn't really change my feet's mind about walking in his direction. It was one of those awkward moments when once you stand up you really can't sit back down... like in testimony meeting. haha. So I walk up to him (of course he's in the middle of a conversation by the time I get there) and he looked at me and I said, "Can I ask you a really weird question?" He was like, "sure....?" "Did you used to work at Ricardo's?" "Yes!" "I KNEW you looked familiar! Lance right?" "Yeah, I remember you! You were the cashier." We proceeded to chat for a minute, reminiscing about the good ol' times and the people we worked with way back when and where they are now. Once we both left Ricardo's I NEVER in a million years thought I'd actually see him again. Wow, that's all I have to say. I always did think he was quite the stud, although so did every other girl who worked at Ricardo's, except the one girl he was into. (She's now married and expecting a baby.) It was a short conversation that we had, but it really was good to see him. Man, it sure did make me miss Ricardo's though. I didn't get his number, he didn't get mine, so I'll probably never see him again, but it was really nice to see him. Just thought I'd write about it. Who knows, maybe one day we'll cross paths again.
For your viewing pleasure I've provided a picture of the Tanner Building staircase. We stood talking at the very bottom. I can't remember if this is the entire staircase, or if there was one more level underneath this one. Anyway, just know we were at the bottom. :)

First Day of 4-H

As maybe one of you know, I'm a 4-H club teacher at Orem Junior High! And guess what! I teach a babysitters club! Sweet right??! Well anyway today was the first day and it went okay. I just feel like I'm a boring person and that junior high kids don't find it fun to listen to me... Half of them I think are forced to be there by their parents... Anyway, I hope I can make it fun for them! It was only the first week, it'll end up being great! :)

Stupid PDBio

Let me just re-state the fact that I hate the testing center. I hate that their hours aren't regular. I just hate everything about it. My PDBio professor said we'd be able to take our test Thursday, Friday and Monday. I just took his word for it when he said it'd be open all day and didn't bother to double check the times. I decided to take it Monday because I needed all the time I could get to study. Well, I get to lecture and he announces that we actually had 20 minutes to be to the testing center before they closed. So, half of the class had to get up and go take the exam. Stupid. So instead of having a few minutes to study after my classes were done for the day, I didn't have any time at all. He said we should plan on at least an hour to take it, well I only had like 35 minutes because I had to go to English. GRRRR! Sometimes I think I'm not cut out to be a BYU student. At least I passed my stupid test, and that was my goal.

BYU vs. FSU

Wow. All I can say is BYU must've left their ability in New Orleans last week cause they sure the heck didn't bring it tonight. That was a pretty sorry excuse for a football game. Not that I can actually play, but honestly, that was bad. They didn't just get beat, but as the old man I met in a wheelchair said, "They got the crap kicked out of them." I thought that was a fitting phrase. There's no reason they couldn't have killed FSU! The OU game must've been just luck. There goes BYU's brand new, hard earned respect. Come on Cougars, next week I wanna see a real football game!

I Feel Like 'Alexander and the Terrible horrible no Good Very Bad Day'

It was NOT my day today! In fact, it was a BAD day!! I almost never have bad days, usually I have good days, GREAT days! I just want to go to bed and not wake up until tomorrow. It's a good thing tomorrow is a NEW day. I was talking to my mom and grandma and they said I shoulda checked my horoscope before leaving my apartment this morning. So when I got home I checked it and this is what it said: "Try to slow down today -- things are too crazy! If you're patient, you can get enough done to call it a day, but if you try to rush anything through, you are sure to end up farther behind." It doesn't say anything about having a bad day, but I did anyway. I guess I have to have the bad days to appreciate the good.

My day would have been worse had my day been like Alexander's.

Jennie

I know I already posted something tonight, but I decided to do it again. I just wanted to say I MISS JENNIE SO MUCH!!!!! Honestly, I feel like crying that's how much I miss her! We became so close in those few weeks. I just wish she'd move here or something. At least come and visit. I'm sure everyone reading this misses her too. We had so many unforgetable and life changing experiences together. It's been six months. Move to Utah Jennie!

Artificial Heart Seminar

I was reading the Daily Universe this morning before class, just like I always do, and I saw this article that caught my eye. The title had 'artificial heart' in it, so I read it and saw that the man who created the artificial heart was coming to BYU and would be speaking TONIGHT! Of course I had to go, since cardiology is one thing I'm really interested in. I talked my friend Matt in to coming along. It was really cool! A lot of it went straight over my head cause it's not like I know THAT much. The Biomedical Engineering club put it on. Still don't know too much about biomedical engineering, but I'd like to look into it. It was pretty awesome.

COLLEGE!!

Even though I should be going to bed, I decided to make a post. Someone should like remind me to do this more often, cause I really do love to blog. I guess you wouldn't know it cause it's been like a year since I blogged consistently....
Guess what!! I voted yesterday for the very first time! And the very first person I voted for was my daddy! :) It was awesome!

You know what makes me happy? Getting letters from missionaries!! It honestly makes my day! No matter how stressful and hard a day has been, it's so nice to be able to open a letter and just relax for a few minutes before diving back into the day. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

President Monson came to BYU devotional Tuesday and it was amazing!! I'm pretty sure whoever is reading this also went... but just in case you didn't. It was amazing! He's so funny and amazing!

Well, I think that's all I'll put for now, BUT I might start posting more. I guess it's a little hard to stay motivated to update when only 2 people read it...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

okay, so for my ONE reader out there, I'm posting something before I move!! WOW I'm a horrible blogger! I used to be so good at this!! Maybe it's cause nobody reads this... yeah that's probably it. Anyway, summer went by way too fast and I leave for BYU tomorrow!! I think I should make a post next time something exciting actually happens... :)

Insanely busy!!!

The reason it's been a while since I last posted anything was because I'm so so so so so so SO insanely busy!! I have entirely too much to do and not enough time to do it it. This is when i need one of those things Hermoine has in Harry Potter, the thing that takes her back in time. Or I just wish I could stop time. I have Miss Orem stuff, MATC stuff and graduation stuff! there's like 10 sub categories under each category! Sheesh! oh well, It'll all get done and as soon as it is, I'll blog all about it!!

Movie Review: Marley and Me

I LOVE this movie!! Some parts were a little dirty but overall it was a great movie! I was a little nervous to watch it cause I heard it was so sad, but I'd definitely reccommend it! Okay, so we all know the dog dies in the end, evn before we watch it. When Marley dies, it literally felt like it was my own dog was dying! It may be because I have a dog, or maybe because they made you really love the dog. It's definitely a tear jerker. I'll admit it, I cried. Okay, so maybe I balled. Great movie! Go see it! 4 stars!

Sorry I've done so many movie reviews lately! It's just that nothing exciting ever happens in my life! I should start a blog specifically for movie reviews...not that anyone would read it. No one reads my blog NOW. haha!

Movie Review: Beauty and the Beast (Platinum Edition)

Jessica and I went to Whitney's house for a Disney movie night. We watched Beauty and the Beast! You all know of my infinite love for that movie, and if you didn't, now you do! Well anyway this was the platinum edition, which had this song called, "I can't wait to be human again" or something like that. My personal opinion is that you really can't add new scenes to a classic and still end up with the same movie. I guess the new musical sequence was cute, but it just changed it. I just like the old one SO much and I liked it better without the new scenes. You might LOVE the new song, but the old one was my very favorite Disney movie of all time, so understand my reasoning. 5 stars for the old movie, not so many for the new one.

Movie Review: Push

I went and saw "Push" tonight with Jess and Steph. Before I give you my little review schpeel I'll put in the synopsis thing:
Two young Americans with special abilities must race to find a girl in Hong Kong before a shadowy government organization called Division does. That's about as brief a synopsis as you can get.
p.s. The picture in this blog post about Push doesn't make a ton of sense to me. I think they coulda made a better one...
Anyway, I liked this movie okay. I guess it definitely could have been better. The ending made it seem like there should be a sequel because it left you hanging a little. If they don't make a sequel it's a dumb movie, because you walk out of the theater not knowing anything more than when you walked in. Actually, though, I didn't like Dakota Fanning in this. She has a potty mouth and let's be honest, for lack of a better word, she looks like a skank. For me anyway, when she swears it just almost makes my ears hurt. Because swearing is bad in general, it's even worse when she does it, she's a young girl. It makes her look so unintelligent. I liked the actor that plays Nick, Chris Evans, but I didn't like the character of Kira. (Camilla Belle, didn't she date Joe Jonas or something?)
So in this movie there are people called pushers, watchers, screamers, sniffers, movers, etc. (I don't know if I got the terms 'screamers' and 'sniffers' right, but you get the idea. You'll HATE the screamer people, I promise you. But not even in the way that you usually hate bad guys, they are just so annoying and stupid. I think they could have done a better job of creating those characters, personally. However, I love the logic they used while trying to hide the case towards the end. It's very creative! Some parts got a little bit slow, but the action at the end I suppose made up for it. I had my eyes closed for a lot of the end, you all know I don't do well with scariness in movies...or in real life for that matter.. haha!
Anyway, I'd give it 3 stars if they make a sequel. If they don't, I'd give it 2. :)

First Love

I don't think you ever fully get over your first love...

*Sigh*, We were best friends and fifteen. Too old for play dates, too young for real dates. We were caught in that middle stage and the only term you could really use to describe us would be the closest of friends. Plain 'friend' didn't quite fit and 'boyfriend' fit even less. It was the best of times and we were the best of friends. We laughed, we talked, we played, we fought. Oh, the tender age of fifteen. Those young, fragile hearts break so easily. We eventually moved on. High school came and we went out separate ways, slowly drifting apart. And while the heartache fades, he holds some of the fondest memories of my youth. He owns the very first peice of my heart. He always will. What I wouldn't give to be fifteen and carefree again. Back then I wanted to grow up, now I would give almost anything to go back and relive just one day. I miss being his best friend, I miss all the memories we made, I miss all our talks, I miss him. Time sure does fly. When we were fifteen I just assumed we would finish growing up together, always being close friends. I always thought we'd go to dances together, hang out on the weekends, watch movies. It didn't happen. I think I cried when he got his first real girlfriend, I missed him so much. Not even in a romantic way, I just missed being his best friend. Here we are about to graduate and we never do any of the things I thought we would. No dances, no weekends, no closeness. It's not that I never see him, because I do. We even have a class together, it's just not the same as it was when we were fifteen. I don't know why all these memories have come flooding back to me all of a sudden, but I do know that it put a smile on my face. It could have been because of that hug he gave me the other day, the one that reminded me of when we were best friends. To this day I don't even know if he felt the same way about me back then as I did about him. All I know is that he was my best friend and my first love.

Anti-hex medication

So as I sit here in Pharmacy today, Beth told us this story about a guy who came into her Pharmacy the other day. He said a pregnant woman put a hex on his eye and that he needed medication for it. She said they didn't actually carry anti-hex medication and that he'd have to go to the eye doctor for that!! haha! Anyway, that's about all that's new and exciting in my life.

Movie Review: Pink Panther 2

I went and saw the Pink Panter 2 last night with Chrisanne. There were some funny parts, but overall I thought it was kinda dumb. No wonder it took almost no time at all to make it to the dollar theater. The one-liners were funny but the overall story was almost uninteresting. I also didn't like how unrealistic it is, but I guess that could be why some people think it's funny. If movies aren't fantasy, I like them to be realistic. Yeah right, like the Pope would really let some guy try on his robes and then fall off the balcony... right... Anyway, if you liked it, let me know. I'd give it two stars.

Movie Review: Inkheart

I went and saw Inkheart on Saturday with Chrisanne and I actually really liked it. I haven't read the book, but I heard it was really good. It was pretty popular when I was in junior high. I liked it much more than I thought I would. When the character Dustfinger was introduced I thought to myself, "My heck he's a creep," but he really grew on me. In fact, I think it would have been so cute if he and Maggie would have ended up together, I mean if he were only 4-5 years older than Maggie and waited until she was eighteen. Chrisanne didn't like Brendan Fraser playing the dad (M0, aka Silvertongue) but I actually did. I think the smaller characters like Elinor and Farid really made the movie more entertaining. I'd reccommend it. Overall I really liked this movie and would give it 3 1/2 stars.

Bucket List

Hey all! I've probably lost all of my faithful readers (aka my bestest buddies) because I've been a slacker and haven't updated since....let me check.... OCTOBER 5TH!!!! But hey, at least I'm doing it now!! And what better way to re-start my blogging career than by creating a bucket list?? That's right, there is no better way! So, in no particular order, I give you my very own personal bucket list!

1. Get married to an attractive perfectly imperfect RM in the Salt Lake Temple!!

3. Become a doctor, cardiologist in particular.
4. Become FLUENT in Spanish, not just semi-decent-barely-would-be-able-to-survive-in-Spain Spanish.
5. Have an annual 'best friends from high school trip'!! (I love you girls!)
6. learn to whistle (without my retainers)
7. NEVER forget a day to read my scriptures and write in my journal. I've been going strong for over 3 years without skipping a day.

12. Become thin (HA!)
13. Go to Prom.... (Double HA!)
14. Study abroad in Spain for a semester.
15. Kiss Swaggart Morretti!! just kidding he's taken, but I'll do the same thing Poppy did. So instead...I'll kiss he who must not be named in this list.
16. Go skinny dipping!! (haha)
17. Live to the ripe old age of 100!! (I want my husband to live that long too so I'm not an old widow spinster)
18. Learn to sing, except not like a dying cow.
19. learn to cook so I survive in college. NO, rather learn to LIKE to cook.
20. Celebrate National Boy Boycott Day every year! Even when I'm married! haha, September 13 baby!!
21. play Belle in Beauty and the Beast
22. Marry Jonathan Taylor Thomas
23. will be added someday.
